Skunkworks School makes tools for kids and the grown-ups who care for them. We keep as little as we can, we never sell it, and we never show ads. Here is exactly what we keep, and why.

The short version

This website

The skunkworks.school homepage and Settings page collect nothing about you. Your settings (dark or light colours, and text size) are saved only in your browser on this device. We never receive them.

We set no cookies and run no analytics. Our hosting provider handles the basic information every website needs to deliver a page, like your IP address. It uses that only to run and protect the service.

The Daily Chart

The Daily Chart helps a family keep track of chores and routines. To do that, it keeps:

Starting without an account

When you first open the Daily Chart, we create an anonymous account for this browser. It has no name or email attached. Your chart is stored on our servers under that account, so it works the same way a full account does.

If you clear your browser's data before signing in, you'll lose access to an anonymous chart, and we can't get it back for you. We'll remind you before that can happen.

Signing in

A grown-up can sign in with Google to keep the chart safe and use it on other devices. We then receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. The chart you already made stays exactly as it was.

Signing in is for grown-ups. Children use the chart without an account of their own.

Sharing with another grown-up

A signed-in parent can give a second parent or caregiver access to the same family by handing them a one-time invite code. The code expires after 7 days. We never add anyone from an email address alone. Either grown-up can end the sharing at any time.

Children's privacy

Our tools are made for children to use with a grown-up. A grown-up sets up the Daily Chart; a child ticks things off. We follow the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

If you think a child has given us information without a grown-up's permission, tell us and we'll delete it.

How long we keep things

Services we use

We rely on a few companies to run Skunkworks School. Each one handles your information only to provide its service to us:

Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only your family, and anyone you invite, can see your family's chart.

Typing & technology, also from Skunkworks, has its own website and its own privacy policy.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have other rights too, such as under California law or the EU's GDPR. Contact us and we'll help.

Changes to this page

If we change what we keep or how we use it, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
